Newly elected to the Board are Samantha Gonzales and Justin Turner as Members at Large. Returning to the Board in their roles are Edna Pedroza as Chair, John Liu as Vice Chair, Tony Molina as Past Chair, Edie Smith as Secretary, Jeremy Doyel as Treasurer, and Danny Vazquez as Member at Large. Thor Smith, previously a Member at Large, has a new role as Membership Coordinator. Departing the Board are Julie Congi and JD Graves. Thanks to both of you for your many contributions to FCBC! You have both made a large mark to our organization. In January, the FCBC Board will hold their Annual Planning Summit to set out the direction and plan the activities for the new year.
REI Cooperative Action Fund GrantFCBC is one of 293 organizations that received a grant from the REI Cooperative Action Fund this fall. This fund supports nonprofit organizations making the outdoors more accessible and inclusive for everybody. The funds that FCBC received will go towards events and activities supporting the FCBC mission to build healthy, equitable, and safe communities through advocacy, education, and collaboration that promotes bicycling for everyday transportation and recreation. We are grateful for all the Board members and volunteers who expend countless hours and use their expertise to make Fresno County safer for bike riders and encourage more people to ride their bikes. Christmas Tree Lane Bike RideFCBC normally has a holiday lights bike ride, and this year it was along Christmas Tree Lane (Van Ness Boulevard) in Old Fig Garden. After the FCBC general membership meeting on December 14, about 20 people got to experience Christmas Tree Lane just ahead of the vehicular traffic.
Christmas Toy DriveFCBC donated kid’s bikes to the Fresno Hispanic Soccer League to share some bike joy in the holiday season. Three very happy kids received the bikes. FCBC accepts monetary donations and bicycles that are in good condition. Any questions regarding donations can be directed to info@fresnobike.org.
